BOBBY KOURETCHIAN

Bobby Kouretchian is the principal and managing attorney at KOZA LAW GROUP APC, where he specializes in business law and estate planning.

Mr. Kouretchian provides strategic counseling and customized legal service to individuals, families, entrepreneurs, estates and businesses in the areas of wills and trusts, corporate law (formation, governance, finance, mergers and acquisitions, and securities), contract law, and intellectual property.

Originally a native of Los Angeles, Mr. Kouretchian studied international relations at the University of Southern California (B.A.), then received his juris doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Mr. Kouretchian spent the early years of his legal practice primarily as a litigator, achieving a robust motion practice and case resolution success rate of over 95%. He argued before, inter alia, the courts of the Central and Northern Districts of the United States District Court, the Superior Court of California (multiple jurisdictions), the United States Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and the Ninth District Court of Appeals.

In 2000, Mr. Kouretchian became a partner at KLG in Santa Monica, California, where he represented hundreds of clients in a broad range of legal areas including commercial litigation, intellectual property (with an emphasis on trademarks and trade secrets) and corporate law.  Among the highlights of his time there, Mr. Kouretchian served as lead counsel on the “Travelergate” case on behalf of the former owners of the University of Southern California football team mascot Traveler®.   Mr. Kouretchian also worked on behalf of entertainment and new media companies including Califa Entertainment, Playboy.com and various emerging technology companies.

During this period, Mr. Kouretchian also served as an adjunct law professor at Pepperdine University School of Law at Malibu, California where he taught Law of Cyberspace.

Mr. Kouretchian made the decision to redirect his professional focus from litigation to a more transactional-based practice, relocating from Los Angeles to San Diego in 2004, whereupon he launched the Law Offices of Bobby Kouretchian – specializing in wills and trusts and general transactional business law.  The Law Offices of Bobby Kouretchian also provided (outsourced) in-house legal services to local southern California businesses.  During that period, Mr. Kouretchian also consulted on behalf of DLA Piper, Morrison & Foerster LLP, Cooley, Godward & Cronish (now Cooley, LLP) and Coulghlin, Stoia, Geller, Rudman & Robins (now known as Geller, Rudman, & Robins) – working on matters involving QUALCOMM®, AIG®, BAYER® and MICROSOFT®, among others.

In 2007, Mr. Kouretchian was hired as in-house corporate counsel for Colorep, Inc., an environmentally sustainable textile printing company.  As in-house counsel, Mr. Kouretchian assisted with the procurement of private equity financing and rights offerings, while also providing due diligence review on a considered (but untendered) reverse merger with a Canadian entity, and resulting merger with Transprint USA, Inc. Mr. Kouretchian left this position in 2012.  Soon after, he helped form the law firm that would eventually come to be known as Koza Law Group APC.

In his personal time, Bobby enjoys painting, golfing, playing basketball, and studying astronomy. But more than anything, he enjoys spending time with his kids.
